Why a warming climate is an urgent matter of equity

Today I checked the temperature of the beach water at Wrightsville Beach, one of my preferred day trip destinations and read the screen…. 79 degrees Fahrenheit. One degree from optimal hurricane formation temperature. Barely one month into hurricane season. Five months to go. The earth is warming, and we should pay attention.

I have seen what hurricanes can do up close and personal. Hurricane Fran blew through my second hometown of Goldsboro, NC in 1996 and turned Ash Street into a tributary of the Neuse River. We were without power for nearly two weeks.
